Viral Patterns is a library of public Instagram posts for brands and the people who make their content. It is run by its founders (“we”, “us”). This policy explains what we collect when you use this website and the library app, why, and what you can do about it.
What we collect
When you browse without an account, we don't ask for anything. Our servers keep standard technical logs (such as your IP address, browser and the pages requested) to keep the service running and secure.
When you create an account or sign in, we receive from Google or from your email sign-up:
- your email address and whether it has been verified,
- your name and profile photo, if your Google account has them,
- how you signed in (Google or email and password), when you joined and when you last signed in.
We never see your password. Sign-in is handled by Firebase Authentication, a Google service, which stores it securely.
When you use the library, we use Microsoft Clarity to understand how people use it: which pages they visit, where they click and scroll, and recordings of sessions. Clarity masks text you type. It helps us find what is confusing and fix it.
Cookies and local storage
- Session cookie. Keeps you signed in to the library for up to 30 days. It is required for your account to work.
- Theme. Your light or dark choice is saved in your browser's local storage. It never leaves your device.
- Analytics. Microsoft Clarity sets its own cookies in the library app.
- Instagram. Posts play through Instagram's official embeds. When one loads, Instagram (Meta) may set cookies and collect data under its own privacy policy.
You can block or clear cookies in your browser settings. If you block the session cookie you won't be able to sign in.
How we use it
- to sign you in and open the full library for your account,
- to run, secure and improve the service,
- to answer you when you write to us.
We don't sell your data, and we don't use it for advertising.
Who we share it with
Only the services that help us run Viral Patterns, each for its own part:
- Google (Firebase Authentication), for sign-in,
- Microsoft (Clarity), for usage analytics,
- Meta (Instagram), when embedded posts load,
- our hosting providers, which store the database and files.
These providers may process data outside India. We may also share information if the law requires it, or to protect the service and its users.
How long we keep it
We keep your account details while your account exists. If you ask us to delete your account, we remove them within 30 days, apart from anything we must keep by law.
Your rights
You can ask us to show you the data we hold about you, correct it, or delete it. You can also withdraw your consent by deleting your account. Write to viralpatterns@gmail.com and we'll reply within 30 days. These rights include those under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.
Children
Viral Patterns is not meant for anyone under 18, and we don't knowingly collect their data.
Security
We use encrypted connections, signed session cookies and access controls to protect your data. No service is perfectly secure, so we can't guarantee it, but we'll tell you if a breach affects you.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. For big changes, we'll let account holders know by email.
